The James Lipton meme

I’ve been tagged! Trish over at “Hey Lady, Whatca Readin?” sent me this meme.

What is your favorite word?

Aardvark and Shiny

What is your least favorite word?

Chick (in reference to a female; I’m okay with chick in reference to a chicken) :)

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Acceptance–knowing I’m accepted and loved for who I am, and being able to reciprocate that.
Openness–the willingness of someone to open themselves, their heart, their art to inspire someone else.

What turns you off?

People who throw their cigarette butts on the ground.
One-uppers–you know, the person who has to have the last say in a conversation by topping everything you say.

What is your favorite curse word?

Lately I’ve been over-using “Holy Toledo” to an alarming extreme.

What sound or noise do you love?

Rain on the roof, wind in the trees, water gurgling in a fountain or in a stream *sigh*

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

If I could choose anything, I’d like to be a housewife.

What profession would you not like to do?

The poor person who has to clean up roadkill. I definitely couldn’t handle that.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

“The Library for Eternity is open, and there’s a chair just for you.”

I’m going to tag Jo and Mom, just to make them blog something. Get going!

What kind of yarn are you?

You are Mohair. You are a warm and fuzzy type who works well with others, doing your share without being too weighty. You can be stubborn and absolutely refuse to change your position once it is set, but that’s okay since you are good at covering up your mistakes.

Grammar nerds unite!

I just found a new blog I know I’m going to like: Punctuality Rules!

Deb, the author of Punctuality Rules!, also runs another blog called Booking Through Thursday. I think I’m gonna like that one too! :) Browsing through the recent posts, I found a link to Buy a Friend a Book Week. Their slogan is “good karma, good books.” LOL! I totally like that idea–so friends, don’t be surprised to find a book on your doorstep during the first week of January, April, July, or October. ;)

And if you haven’t listened already, I highly recommend the Grammar Girl podcast. She actually makes grammar fun! *gasp*

Pregnancy tests, Spaceballs style

I don’t even remember what channel I was watching, but when I saw this commercial I almost peed my pants laughing. All I could think about as the commercial cut in was the intro to Spaceballs. I could almost see the bumper sticker on the tube that says, “I pee for nobody.”

Word inventors

As a writer, I always get a hearty chuckle when I hear people inventing words. Some recent gems from work: incentivize (to give someone incentive) and productize (to make somethingn a product). So this weekend’s Dilbert cartoon really spoke to me: http://www.dilbert.com/comics/dilbert/archive/dilbert-20070107.html
