Persuasion sometimes comes easy

Whew! Been digging up my herb garden, amending the dreadful soil and replanting some must-have kitchen herbs. In my garden, the must-haves are sage, rosemary, Italian parsley, thyme, dill, oregano, and feverfew. My rosemary, sage, and oregano from last year are doing quite well! I dug up my chives and will replant them this year. I had no idea chives and feverfew are the masterful spreaders that apparently they are. There are little chive and feverfew seedlings everywhere–except for where I want them, of course. I still have to plant my lemon balm and catnip, though my barrel of mint is becoming nicely established. I love, love, LOVE the look and smell of a freshly planted garden! *sigh*

As I was gathering up my tools, I decided I’d reward myself by watching some of the new BBC Sense & Sensibility. And when I came inside I discovered yet one more supporting incident that proves my sister and I are connected by some freakish universal psychic wavelength. She has apparently discovered that the Austen heroine she most resembles is Elinor Dashwood. No surprise to me there. But, hey, wavelength! She’s my sister, I shouldn’t be surprised that she’s also Elinor. Not to be outdone, I also took the quiz:

Which Jane Austen Character are You? (For Females) Long Quiz!!!
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Emma WoodhouseEmma is possibly one of the most loyal characters of Austen, always wanting better for those around her and doing all she possibly can to make it happen. Her motives sometimes get in the way of her good intentions and her own opinions can end up ruling her actions, but she has a good heart. She loves to be social and is welcoming to most, unless they are too silly to tolerate. While she sometimes changes her behavior to make others feel comfortable, she knows who she is and is always bettering herself.

Well, for whatever it’s worth, I scored as Emma also. Hmmmmm……

  2. 2 Tracy

You scored as a Marianne Dashwood
Most girls can relate with Marianne on a more personal level than some of Austen’s other characters. She represents the emotional longings and struggles that seem to attack and bless us at the same time. Loyal to a fault, passionate for experience and life, and a bit over-emotional, Marianne matures and grows (making her so beloved).

Hmmmm, seems a bit fitting. Might explain a few things, too. ;) Guess I’d better hurry up and go read about her in that big, fancy Jane Austen volume. :)

Hmm… Mom, thought you would’ve scored closer to Elinor too. Not that Emma is at all bad! ;)

And Tracy, I totally see you as Marianne. Get ye to a Jane Austen book! :)

    This is how I scored:

You scored as a Elizabeth Bennet
As one of Austen’s most beloved characters, Elizabeth Bennet represents what most women would like to become: strong, independent, and loyal. Of course, she has her faults including a stubborn will of iron and a clinging to first impressions. Overall, Lizzie is bright and lovable…something to admire and aspire to.
