Somehow this has been sitting in draft mode for 3 weeks. Oh well, now you get two more kooky videos…
Holy schmoly, another Monday come and gone! Here are two random videos that my hubby sent this week:
Snippets of an ordinary life in an extraordinary world
I was gushing about some of my favorite finds to my sister today and she commented that I sounded like an Oprah “My Favorite Things” list. And I turned to her and said, “I smell a blog post!” So with that brief introduction, here are My Favorite Things for 2007, in no particular order.
I suppose I should declare one important disclaimer: unlike Oprah, I cannot afford to purchase these items for my audience (as much as I’d love to!), nor do I have the commercial power to induce the manufacturers to sponsor these items as gifts for my audience (as much as I’d love to!). ![]()
Yea, I got Reunion 9 for Christmas! Reunion is a family tree application for Mac. Apparently they’ve made quite a few updates–all of them very cool, but a bit overwhelming.
So I was aimlessly wandering through the preferences to see what was what.
In genealogy research, it’s common practice to hide personal data for living relatives, especially when posting your research on the web. Reunion 9 looks like it has a great filter for protecting this private data. One of the pertinent preference panes is for “sensitive child status.” You don’t want to inadvertently tip of a cousin that he’s adopted or illegitimate, you know.
I had a WTF moment then a hearty chuckle when I discovered that “alien abductee” is common enough to make it as one of Reunion’s default sensitive child statuses.
Wow, what a busy day today was. I always look forward to Christmas, always feel kind of sad that the hoopla is over, but also relieved that it is over and life returns to normal. I’m just so thankful to have family and friends to share the holiday with. I share with family in my home, and with my friends in my heart. I am feeling so full of love and contentment tonight because I have these special people in my life, all in turn sharing their love with me.
I had a lot of fun this year shopping for gifts for my friends and family. I tried really hard to get what I thought they’d want while still sticking to my Buy Handmade pledge as much as possible. I think that’s one reason I like Christmas so much–I love finding little bundles that let me show my loved ones how much I love them. Sure, buying gifts isn’t the only way to say “I love you,” but it sure is a fun way! And a unique opportunity to reflect on your relationship to find meaningful things to give.
One of my favorite happy bubble movies (Hope Floats) has a line the grandmother uses to express her affection for her granddaughter: “My cup runneth over.”
So today, my cup runneth over, and I hope yours does too.
