Is it Monday again already!? For those of you who haven’t seen it, this week’s Monday Madness comes from a weekend NFL game. Cleveland attempts a 51-yard field goal. It’s initially ruled no-good, but upon review is ruled a field goal to tie the game and force overtime. Yet another good example of why replay is good–and so is HD.

This is the first big rain storm we’ve had in quite a while here. I love laying in bed listening to the rain. The soft and loud, muffled and sharp noise of the rain hitting the house. And it’s late, almost 11 pm, so it’s otherwise very quiet. Most people are also in bed, so there’s little traffic. During lulls in the rain, I can hear the creak of the ceiling fan and soft chatter of gunfire from the loft (Nathan’s enjoying Call of Duty 4 tonight). I love this soundtrack of nature, and it’s the perfect bedtime music.
So last week on Monday Madness I wrote about how kitties make good fun. But I’ve since discovered that the style of photography actually has a name: lolcat. According to its Wikipedia article, it’s become an Internet subculture of sorts, inspiring its own programming language and even an initiative to translate the Bible into lolcat vernacular.
“The Bible?!” I wondered to myself. I had to go check that out. If you haven’t guessed already by reading this blog, I enjoy a highly irreverent sense of humor, so the Lolcat Bible did not disappoint. You’re greeted at the site with this welcome:
Hai! Teh blessigs of teh Ceiling Cat b pwn u, lol!
And there’s even a store! Yes, you too can own a T-shirt with the lolcat translation of Matthew 3, verses 13-15:
Den Jesus caem from Gallalee, to has baptizm from John. But John was all “Ur doin it rong, j00 needz to baptize me” And Jesus answered sayin “STFU and baptize me n00b,” and John did.
How’s that for fun and kooky? Could my work here be done?
I’ve been thinking I should get in gear for my holiday shopping. I plan to make a lot of my gifts this year, what with my recent addiction to beading. My forays into the world of handcrafts have made me think that I want a handmade Christmas. I’ve had great fun surfing around on Etsy and shopping at my new favorite artist bead shop. In fact, I even created my own Etsy store to see if I can support habit.
Then I found this web site encouraging people to buy handmade for the holidays. So don’t be surprised if you get a crafty handmade gift for Christmas!
I finally did. Finally decided I’d worn the same hairstyle for long enough–going on 5 years, I think. Chopped off about 5 inches. I had wanted to grow it to the middle of my back (about 5 more inches) but just got bored too soon.
Here’s a picture of the new hairdo. We visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science this weekend and had a great time. And this picture of us actually turned out quite nice!
