What kind of yarn are you?

You are Mohair. You are a warm and fuzzy type who works well with others, doing your share without being too weighty. You can be stubborn and absolutely refuse to change your position once it is set, but that’s okay since you are good at covering up your mistakes.

Why I like Nora

I’m reading the new Nora Roberts book (Blood Brothers, of which Amazon sent me two copies for some reason) and something occurred to me. I was giggling at some snarky remark one character had made to another and I realized suddenly why I like Nora’s trilogies so much. They all have a closely knit group of friends that become family. Yes, they all have romance, but I love the relationships she builds in her characters. I love that her characters become an extended family because I can relate to that at some level. I was reading this particular interchange thinking that if I were lucky enough to live close to my friends, we’d probably be that way. Dropping by when important things are happening, or when unimportant things are happening. Tag-teaming who brings the pizza and drinks for impromptu dinners. And that made me happy, pondering how lucky I am to have such friends.

Weekend photos

Finally we’re having some Fall weather! On Wednesday, the temperature dropped about 30 degrees from 5 pm to 10 pm to the low 50s. And we’ve had clouds and rain today, so it’s been a wonderfully dreary holiday weekend. On Friday, we opted out of the shopping madness and visited the Texas Renaissance Festival again. After 8 years of attendance, I finally gave in to the urge and bought a flower wreath. This year at the TRF was all about indulging the inner child fairies in us: face painting and flower wreaths! :) And yes, we ARE wearing scarves. It was actually cool enough in Houston for scarves! OMG, it was heavenly!!! :)

And just cuz he’s cute, here’s a picture of our Toby being a total slug. His predominant reaction to all of life’s quandries is “go limp and hope they don’t notice.” He does it well.

Newest jewelry piece

I’ve posted my newest jewelry piece on Etsy. I’m so pleased with it! I just want understated but fun jewelry. Nothing hugely bulky–I’m not that into bling. ;)  So I hope you like the piece. And if you know someone who might like it, pass it on! It is gift season now. ;)

Hehehehehehe…

What’s that puddle?

That damp spot there on the desk? Yep, that’s me drooling. I am shuddering to think how geeky this is going to make me seem, not to mention what a gadget freak I’ve become. I am in love, L.O.V.E., with the Amazon Kindle. And I want to know how I can get Neil Gaiman to endorse my server software. ;) Totally cool.
