Yep, Spring is in the air! As I was testing our sprinklers this afternoon, I discovered that our Walter’s Viburnum bushes are flowering! That’s exciting because this is the first Spring we’ve had them, so it’s the first time we get to see their lovely blooms.
I’m a little worried, though, about how interested Tex was in the blooms. (You’ll notice him in the upper left of the photo above if you click on it. He was “helping.”) When I was in high school, our dog JJ would pluck the roses off of every single bush in our backyard. Didn’t pester the bushes, just the blooms, the darned dog! Knowing my family’s propensity for adopting strange and neurotic animals, I can well see another bloom-plucker in our midst…
Once I saw the blooms on our Viburnum, I checked out our Variegated Privet, who also show promising signs of new growth. Also another new element in our landscape. And, much to my relief, our new Japanese Maple is showing new growth too. We haven’t had good luck with trees, so we splurged and had larger trees installed when we hired a landscaper last year. I haven’t checked our new Bradford Pear yet, cuz, well, it’s dark out now.
I’m sure I’m the only one who’s excited about my plants, but we can all get excited about Spring, right?
Okay, I’ve realized that I jumped the gun a little when I said that Tex has only one talent. That’s not entirely true…
He can shake!

And he can high five!

I ran across this wonderful site called Flaming Renaissance. The blog author, Megan, strives to coach her readers on how to be creative, connect with yourself, and live abundantly. I think that’s totally cool! “Living abundantly” … that’s a wonderful philosophy, don’t you think?
She has started a blogging tradition of posting Friday Felicitations.
It’s time to help each other throw out all that negative thinking and acknowledge those things we have to celebrate. Friday is now the day to blog your compliments, your accomplishments, something nice someone said to you, or maybe even something you are stiving to make better. Go ahead, announce yourself to be happy and fortunate.
Yet another totally cool idea! So, I decided to hop on this bandwagon. And here you have my first Friday Felicitations.
My Felicitations
Sharing the wealth:
- Tracy is giving love another go. That’s courageous and wise. I love her for it!
- This was a couple of weeks ago, but my girlfriends in ABQ let me treat them to a wonderful girls’ day out at a spa. And, OMG, what a wonderful treat that was for me! Not just the beautiful outdoor hot bath, but the company who shared it with me. I don’t tell them enough how much they mean to me—I love you all!
I love this evenings time of year! You can sense that Spring is coming–the days are getting longer, the light is getting brighter. And there’s something about this almost-Spring time that makes the Texas sky absolutely beautiful, particularly at sunset.
Unfortunately I was driving on the tollway at sunset, so I had to snap the picture without looking (at the picture, don’t worry I was watching the road;)).
