Monday Madness - Hampster ninjas

My husband convinced me this weekend that hamsters are actually cute and adorable. Well, okay, I’ve always thought they were cute and adorable, but I never pictured myself having one. This weekend, we were at the pet store getting cat food when we stopped to gawk over the fuzzy little rodents hiding away in their little huts. OMG, the were so cute! Dear hubby starts trying to convince me to acquire said fuzzy cute rodent. When I actually agreed, I think he was thrown off guard. Now he says we can’t get one, and after he got me all excited about it, too! *pout*

So today’s Monday Madness is a kooky homage to hamsters. And to creative people who just have too much time on their hands. :) Behold, how to turn a hamster into a fighting machine.

Disclaimer: Hamster owners, Becca’s Cyber Home in no way endorses this utilization of hamsters or knives. Remember how your mother told you never to run with knives? Well your hamster shouldn’t either.

Monday Madness - Quiz time!

I scored as Babylon 5 (Babylon 5). The universe is erupting into war and your government picks the wrong side. How much worse could things get? It doesn’t matter, because no matter what you have your friends and you’ll do the right thing. In the end that will be all that matters. Now if only the Psi Cops would leave you alone.

TiVo this!

Not everyone can sit through 3 1/2 hours of Olympics programming, so here are some ideas to freshen up your TV viewing list:

Random musings

Last night my sister berated me for not posting in a while. “I’ve even been checking!” she informed me. So, knowing that I’m disappointing my fan, I decided it was time to come check in. I actually did start a post last week about my trip to Cupertino, but decided that sleep was more important. (I’ll finish that post later!) I was a little shocked to see how long it has been since my last post, but what can I say? Life gets in the way sometimes. :)

I just read an amusing article on CNN.com and I must agree with its author. You know a news story has reached a pinacle when Bill Gates uses it as fodder for his speech-opening jokes. I’m going to be a good cyber citizen and link you to the article instead of quoting it. And while you’re there, try not to be frightened of the photo. I swear, is there a picture of Cheney where he’s NOT scowling? I can’t imagine how it would not be scary to be around him. He always looks like he’s snarling.

I just joined a 12-week walking program at work. The idea is that you wear a pedometer daily and record your steps. Over the 12 weeks, you increase your daily count to 10,000. I start next week, so wish me luck! I’m happy to say that I am 4 pounds lighter than I was when I wrote about my 2006 Resolutions! I’ve reached a full 7 minutes of workout on my new elliptical trainer. It’s completely depressing how out of shape I am (I mean, 7 minutes sounds totally pathetic), but I’m slightly consoled by the fact that I’m doing something about it and slowly improving.

Have you noticed that I say “I mean” a lot? I gotta work on that. I mean, I am supposed to be a professional writer, after all.

Hehehehe.

We took a friend to the County Line for dinner on Monday. I nearly ate myself sick, but oh my gosh, that’s some seriously good BBQ! We wanted to take him out for BBQ, since that’s a cuisine that Texas does particularly well. I forgot to point out to him, though, that he can get County Line in Albuquerque, too. As a matter of fact, our two favorite BBQ joints (Rudy’s and County Line) also have locations in Albuquerque. ;) Mmmmmmm… now I’m craving Rudy’s cream corn…

Baseball season is only about 6 weeks away! Yeehah!! Only 13 days till Spring Training games start. We bought our mini-season tickets–we’ll be doing the Sunday games again this year. And, this year, I get to go to baseball games without feeling guilty about not doing homework! Double yeehah!! :D

I watched Mr. Smith Goes to Washington for the first time last night. Unfortunately, TiVo cut off the last 5 minutes (I’m guessing the guide data was wrong), so I have to wait until it records tomorrow’s showing to actually see the end. This one will definitely be added to my list of favorite movies. It’s amazing how a movie from 65 years ago can still resonate so truly today.

Okay, so I’ve subjected you to my random musings for long enough. You’ve now spent 5 minutes of your life that you’d probably like back. :)
