So, I’ve been a little off on my blogging lately. I’ve wanted to blog, but when I sit down to actually write, nothing comes out. But today is different. Today I must speak out!
Today is different because I have just stumbled upon a terrifying, and unconscionable miscarriage of justice. Unbeknownst to me, at least until now, millions of songbirds have been killed in Wisconsin every year! The culprit, you ask?
Cats. And not just big wildcats like cougars and bobcats, but house cats, too.
Those evil, fiendish creatures are slaughtering helpless and unsuspecting little birdies without recourse! I mean, it’s high time we humans flexed some muscle and disrupt a natural, dare I say it, circle of life to save these little birdies! In fact, in Wisconsin, they’re trying to pass a law that would let hunters kill these blood-thirsty beasts whose instincts to kill little birdies are completely misguided and obviously morally corrupt.

Whoa, now that I’ve snapped back to reality, that’s total baloney! Oh, heavens, no! Please tell me it’s not true! Please tell me that it’s not a completely natural event for a cat to hunt a bird!
Quote from article:
“Every year in Wisconsin alone, an estimated 2 million wild cats kill 47 million to 139 million songbirds, according to state officials.”
God almighty, don’t people have better things to do?!?!
Read the whole story at CNN.com.

PLEASE — tell me they are not really going to give grown men licenses to hunt…CATS???!! What sport – what a macho feeling will result from…shooting a cat… Have they gone mad? Little boys have been sternly reprimanded for years in civilized society against messing with their neighbor’s cat, their sister’s cat, any helpless little kitty. It just isn’t done. And now they’ll give them a license????
Can we say “food chain”? Those little songbirds eat worms… Bigger animals eat little animals. It’s the way of nature.
Somebody in Wisconsin has way too much time on their hands. Get a life!
Besides, has anyone stopped to consider the mess we’d have if those 47 million to 139 million songbirds were left to sing…ABOVE our cars on power lines…?? Hey, maybe it’s really the car wash owners orchestrating this bold move.
Hi Becca,
Hope all is well with you. I think there are LOTS of people out there with nothing better to do! Sad, isn’t it?
How is your Mom doing? Any resolution to her arthritis?
Me? I should get some answers today with my lung infection problem===have an appt with infec disease and pulmonary docs who think I’ll need surgery very soon. In the meantime, my grandchildren celebrate their Bar and Bat Mitvahs this weekend and last and I am moving May 4 to a settlement which has 50% Americans and is hopefully better than Raanana in every way. Will miss my baby sitting family but can’t have everything. With upcoming thoracic surgery, I won’t be able to work for a good while anyway.
Take care,
Shani
