Wild goose chase, a la FedEx

For the most part, my experiences with shipping companies have been favorable. But every once in a while, one of them will do something so utterly frustrating and bewildering, all I can do is shrug and move on. I mean, how stupid can they be?!

We get a notice on our front door today that FedEx attempted delivery but no one was home (big surprise–some people DO work!). But they delivery dude scratched out “1st Attempt” and “2nd Attempt” and went straight to “Final Attempt.” I guess he was from the FedEx school that teaches “Go straight to FedEx Hell, do not pass Go, and do not collect your box.” Needless to say, this was the first notice we’ve received!

Well, this has happened before. This was an especially big problem when we lived on the 3rd floor in our apartment building and the UPS guy decided 3 flights of steps weren’t in his job description. But I digress.

We figure, OK, we’ve had to drive to their distribution centers before, so we’ll just go pick it up. After all, the slip says we can pick it up after 7 pm at their Conroe facility. So we saddle up and head out to Conroe (about 30-40 minutes one-way). We get there, and as we’re walking up to the door, I say to my husband, “Oh, honey. You’re gonna be pissed.” Sure enough, the sign on the door says they close at 7.

I put this in the “Travels” category because it was indeed a journey, a sojourn through FedEx country that wasted over an hour of our lives. Thank you, FedEx!
